Vancouver Foundation
Vancouver Foundation’s mission is to make positive, lasting impacts in communities in BC through knowledge, networks and philanthropy. Since 1943, our donors have been making a difference in communities by creating endowment funds with us. We manage and invest these funds, and make grants to charitable organizations from the income that they generate.
One of the cool things about endowment funds that we manage is that over time, they continue to grow and provide a sustainable stream of granting dollars that address important community concerns.
Another cool thing about community foundations, including Vancouver Foundation, is that they are run by community volunteers. Although individuals, corporations and organizations make gifts, they recognize the value of sharing and pooling resources and decision-making roles with a wide range of smart, talented people with expertise in different areas. At Vancouver Foundation, more than 150 volunteers—including YPC members—participate in different planning, community leadership and decision-making roles!
Which kind of brings us back to the YPC. The Foundation recognizes that youth are experts on youth, and the YPC helps to ensure we’re tapping into the knowledge, experience and understanding of youth when making grant decisions.
